BUCHAREST, ROMANIA, 1998
This scheme for the rebuilding of central Bucharest attempts to recreate the neighborhood scale and residential texture of places destroyed by the enormous reconstruction of the Ceaucecu era. We sought to re- introduce the small-scale and irregular morphologyof the original city and to dilute the alienating and megalomaniac scale of the Hausmmanized quarters of the city. The project also looked at the city at regional scale, proposing to bring greenways from one side of the city to another and to structure progressive restrictions on car use and complementary increases in public transport density towards the center of town.
