TAIWAN, 2002
This proposal seeks to capture and enlarge both the drama of Fugui Cape and bustling commerce of the Fugee Port. To preserve cape landscape, we propose locating the substantial new facilities for the port under an arti cial hill, allowing unobstructed views of greenery and sea, not of a sea of cars and the backs of shops and buildings.
The low pitch of the hill would ease walking and a series of cuts would make traversal easier still. Sloped south, the hillside could accommodate lush greenery as well as a series of structures, including, perhaps, an exhibition of historic architecture brought from around the region. At the crest of the hill, a continuous pathway would offer an overlook with views of the port and sea.
